Description: Adapted. Deciduous, slow-to-establish climbing vine; large, heart-shaped leaves; showy, fragrant lacecap clusters of white flowers late spring to early summer. Clings by aerial rootlets onto climb walls, fences, or tree trunks without additional support. Best grown in protected, shaded sites to reduce summer leaf scorch and heat stress; thrives in enriched, moisture-retentive soil. Does require careful placement to avoid heat and sun stress. Once established, becomes a long-lived, woody vine with exceptional ornamental value. Blooms on old wood, so prune after flowering if needed. Excellent for shaded walls, large arbors, and as a specimen vine in protected, irrigated garden areas.
