Description: Adapted. Compact, clump-forming cactus with paired pads that resemble rabbit ears. Lacks large spines but is densely covered in fine glochids that can detach easily and irritate skin. Produces small yellow blooms in summer, attractive to pollinators, followed by red or purplish fruit. Thrives in full sun but benefits from light afternoon shade in extreme heat or containers. Requires sharp drainage and occasional summer watering. Protect from freezing temperatures -- best grown in pots that can be moved indoors in winter.
