Description: Adapted. Tall, slender, fast-growing. Trunk topped with high crown of fan-shaped fronds, often with old leaves remaining creating shaggy petticoat if not pruned. Spring creamy-white flowers followed by small black fruits valued by wildlife. Wind pollinated. Best in protected microclimates or wrapped for winter during hard freezes. Requires well-draining soil and benefits from occasional deep watering. Good salt tolerance, often planted along coasts. Deer resistant. Less cold-hardy than California Fan Palm. Excellent for large-scale or commercial plantings.
