Description: Adapted. Shrubby, clumping fan palm. Usually forms low sprawling colonies rather than a tall trunk. Leaves stiff, fan-shaped, and range from green to silvery-blue, especially in sun. Spring, fragrant, creamy-white flowers followed by small black fruit valued by wildlife. Wind-pollinated. Slow-growing but reliable if sited in well-drained soils and protected from severe freezes. High salt tolerance, especially in sandy coastal soils. Deer resistant. Use as ground-level palm accent, naturalistic mass planting, or understory palm.
