Description: Adapted. Single-trunk fan palm; stiff, silvery-blue fronds radiate outward. Requires excellent drainage. May to July creamy white flowers followed by small dark fruits popular with birds. Wind pollinated. Mature plants tolerate some drought but perform best with additional water in prolonged heat. Fronds may burn in severe cold and young plants are vulnerable; wrap crown and trunk in severe freezes. Growth is slow but steady. Deer resistant. Use as desert aesthetic specimen in xeric large-scale designs where dramatic color and texture can be showcased.
