Description: Although this, native to Texas, Opuntia does not have the long spines usually found in this species, it does have clusters of, easily seen, small white spines. The green, oval pads often display shades of purple in the spring. Vibrant yellow blooms appear in the spring up to a full foot above the plant. Flower is followed by bright red fruit. Extensively used in Austin due to the heat and cold tolerance.
