Description: Cultivar. Wide, arching leaves of deep maroon to burgundy tones, heavily speckled with dark purple. Pronounced soft teeth along leaf edges. Forms open rosette. May produce flowering stalk 5-7ft H after several seasons. Greenish pink to pale rose tubular flowers attract pollinators. Not strictly monocarpic and may continue growing by slowly producing pups at base. Color is richest in full sun, though benefits from afternoon shade in intense heat. Requires excellent drainage and minimal water after establishment, more in times of extended drought. Evergreen in mild winters; protect from hard freezes. Deer-resistant and low-maintenance. Ideal as container specimen or sculptural focal point in xeric landscapes.
