Description: Adapted. One of 2 clumping, evergreens with grass-like, glossy green foliage. Big Blue if you want larger scale and bolder foliage. Liriope muscari is considered a landscape workhorse. Big Blue also has slightly broader leaves and a bit wider clump; good flower producer with mildly toxic black berries following. Liriope muscari is a bit smaller growing and doesn0t flower or set as much fruit. Only minor pollinator significance. All plants appreciate protection from late afternoon sun. Will grow in shade but growth is slower and bloom production drops. Deer resistant and tolerant of heat, humidity, and a wide range of soils, provided they are well-drained. Once rooted, they can persist with occasional deep watering, especially during prolonged dry spells. Low-maintenance. Use for edging, borders, mass plantings, or as a shade-tolerant groundcover.
