Description: Fast growing, semi-evergreen ornamental grass native to South America. Large, flower plumes, produced in spring can be silvery-white, or shades of pink and crown the foliage. Plumes are often used as interior decoration. Poor soil (if it is well drained) heat, deer, and drought are no problem, once established. Cut back in late winter to maintain its form and promote fresh growth. Use caution when handling, as the leaf edges can be sharp. Requires space and can be used as a screen or accent plant in xeric landscapes. Avoid planting next to buildings as it is a potential fire hazard.
