Description: Adapted. Fast-growing. Warm-season deciduous vine. Summer through Fall profuse clusters of bright pink, coral, or occasionally white flowers attract pollinators like bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. Emerges rapidly from roots in late spring; heart-shaped green leaves. After frost, top growth dies back, and plant goes dormant until following spring. Thrives in well-drained soil and tolerates heat, poor soil, and summer drought. Blooms longer and more heavily with occasional deep watering in extended dry spells. Prune late winter after danger of hard freezes has passed but before new growth starts. This controls size, removes frost-damaged vines, and encourages a strong flush of spring growth. Can aggressively self-seed in ideal moist conditions but is generally well-behaved. Excellent for fast summer coverage and vibrant seasonal color on fences, arbors, or large trellises.
