Description: Versatile, evergreen shrub, with an upright oval to rounded shape. Adapted to Texas but prefers moist acidic well drained soil. Small, whitish, fragrant flowers in spring are followed by dark-red fruits that tend to split, revealing black seeds. Plants prefer late afternoon shade and will tolerate close to near shade. Shelter from strong wind. Usually used as in hedging.
