Description: Adapted. Small, round to slightly elongated cactus with multiple ribs; short spines, forming low clusters over time. Trumpet-shaped blooms--typically white to pale pink--on long tubes that open at night or early morning and last a day or two. Blooms in late spring to summer, sometimes repeatedly. More cold-hardy than many other blooming cacti. Requires excellent drainage. Enjoys full sun but benefits from afternoon shade in extreme heat, especially in containers. In-ground plants may spread into clumps over time; container-grown plants typically stay more compact. Requires infrequent deep watering in summer and dry winters. A showy, compact cactus perfect for borders, rock gardens, or patio containers.
