Description: Cultivar. Iconic spiral-form cactus. Tightly twisted, columnar blue-green stems; pronounced ribs. Though capable of reaching up to 10 feet tall over time in ideal conditions, it remains narrow and slow-growing. Night-blooming white flowers may appear on mature specimens, though flowering is rare in containers. Prefers full sun for optimal color and form, but benefits from partial shade in extreme heat, especially in containers or near reflective surfaces. Afternoon shade helps prevent sunburn and stress in young or potted plants. Requires excellent drainage and dry winter conditions. Move or cover during hard freezes. Used as sculptural focal point in protected beds or containers where twisting form can be appreciated up close.
