Description: Adapted. Broad, upright blue-green leaves lined with evenly spaced teeth; stout terminal spine. Symmetrical, open rosette with slightly rugged appearance. Monocarpic (dies after flowering) but produces occasional offsets. The flower spike, at 10=15 years, can reach 12016 feet tall. Pale yellow blooms attract pollinators. Well-suited to full sun with excellent drainage. Tolerates heat; drought but benefits from winter protection in colder; wetter conditions. Often grown for its striking form and regional association with mezcal production.
