Description: Adapted cycad. Generally trunkless. Low-growing, shrubby; stiff, fine-textured, feather-like fronds emerge from a small crown. More refined look than Cardboard Cycad. Slow-growing but reliable when planted in well-drained soils and protected from severe freezes. Evergreen in most winters; foliage may burn in hard freezes but crowns usually resprout. Slowly forms small colonies over time. Prefers afternoon shade. Very drought tolerant once established. Looks best with afternoon shade. Deer resistant. All parts highly toxic if ingested. Best as a small-scale accent, massing, or edging in shaded garden beds where fine evergreen texture is valued.
