Botanical Name: Yucca recurvifolia var gloriosa
Mature Size: 6-10ft H, 4-6ft W
Light Requirement: Sun
Water Need: Low
Cold Hardiness: Zone 7 (0 to 5 F) to 11 (above 40F)
Description: Native. Trunk-forming with sword-shaped green leaves that are moderately stiff but more flexible than those of sharper desert species, making it more suitable for residential plantings. Over time, forms a single or branching trunk and slowly develops a colony through basal offshoots. In summer, upright flower spikes rising 8-12ft H, bearing clusters of creamy white, bell-shaped blooms that attract pollinators. Foliage is fibrous and deer tolerant. Exceptionally heat and drought-tolerant when planted in full sun with excellent drainage. Performs well as a medium-scale specimen or structural accent in dry, low-maintenance landscapes.
