$12.00 / EA

Botanical Name:  Vinca major or minor

Mature Size: 6-18in H, 1-4ft W, Variety Dependent

Light Requirement: Partial Shade to Shade

Water Need: Medium

Cold Hardiness: Zone 6 (-10 to -5F) to 9 (25 to 30F), Variety Dependent

Description: Adapted. Evergreen groundcovers. Trailing stems that root where they touch soil, forming dense mats. Both produce violet-blue to lavender flowers in spring, with sporadic rebloom in warm seasons. Not a significant value to pollinators. Vinca major grows taller (12-18in), with broader foliage and faster, more aggressive spread--making it useful for erosion control but also invasive in riparian or moist shaded areas. Vinca minor stays lower (6-12in), with finer leaves and slower spread, creating a softer groundcover more suited for refined beds. Both can naturalize in shady, damp spots, and while not reliably deer resistant, they are usually not browsed. Used in contained shaded beds, slopes, or beneath trees where evergreen coverage is desired, with awareness of potential invasiveness.
