Description: A slow-growing deciduous large shrub to small understory tree native to Texas. Waxy dark green spring leaves turn shades of lavender, orange, pink, and red. In March and April, the small white flowers are popular with pollinators. Bluish black fruit after pollination attracts birds. Moderately deer resistant. Prefers rocky limestone type soils. Often used in habitat restoration.
