Description: Adapted succulent shrub with spiny stems and leathery leaves topped by vibrant bracts in shades of red, pink, yellow, or white. Blooms heavily in warm weather, especially in full sun, and attracts pollinators throughout the growing season. While highly tolerant of dry conditions, additional water may be needed during establishment, active blooming, or in containers during extreme heat. Performs best in well-drained soil and benefits from partial shade in hot microclimates. Milky sap is toxic and may irritate skin. Grow in containers that can be overwintered indoors.
