Description: Adapted. One of hardiest tree palms. Upright habit. Slender, fibrous trunk covered with old leaf bases; compact, rounded crown of dark green, fan-shaped fronds. Spring, yellow flowers appear on large branched inflorescences; followed by small blue-black fruits popular with birds. Wind-pollinated. Somewhat shade-tolerant but with slower growth. Not fussy about soil as long as well drained. Once established. somewhat drought tolerant but looks best with occasional irrigation. Deer resistant. Suitable for smaller landscapes. Use in courtyards, entryways, or protected urban sites.
