Description: A fast growing, evergreen palm native to South America and used almost as extensively as the Mediterranean fan palm. Fluffy looking dark green fronds sit atop the trunk and will form a skirt of spent leaves. It is fast enough growing that growth rings up to 12inches high can be seen on the trunk. Large, multiple inflorescences of yellow flowers turn into heavy clusters of edible orange-red fruit. They are self-fertile. Use as a tall accent.
