Description: A slow growing, small evergreen palm native to Asia. Narrow, bluish green finely cut, thorny fronds with a drooping habit sit atop thin deep brown, textured trunks. Spring to mid-summer flower panicles are yellow and bring dark brown, seldom eaten, edible fruits on female plants. Not reliably hardy as a landscape plant in Austin so usually used as a container plant and brought indoors during the winter here.
