Description: Adapted. Tall classic coastal fan palm; rounded crown of fan-shaped fronds. Old leaf bases often form crosshatch pattern on trunk. Late spring flowers creamy-white blooms followed by small black fruits eaten by birds. Wind pollinated. Slightly less cold-hardy than Texas Sabal and better suited to protected microclimates. Slimmer trunk, somewhat lighter crown, and more tropical look. High salt tolerance. Deer resistant. Use as stand-alone specimen in areas where it can be protected from cold snaps.
