Description: Adapted cycad. May form short trunk with age. Symmetrical rosette; stiff, bluish-green fronds radiate from central crown. Hardiest cycad for Austin landscapes, tolerating freezes better than most. Very slow-growing but highly durable. Foliage may bronze after hard freezes, but established plants resprout reliably. Drought tolerant once established, but responds well to deep, occasional irrigation. Benefits from some afternoon shade. Deer resistant. All parts highly toxic if ingested. Excellent choice for long-term, permanent plantings or as a specimen accent in full sun to light shade.
