Description: Once grown commercially in parts of Texas. An evergreen palm with long erect, spiked, leaves atop trunk. Spikey leaves tend to discourage deer. Off white spring and summer flowers are held on long stalks within foliage and produce yellow to brown edible fruit. Drought tolerance once established, although less fruit will be produced. Usually, wind pollinated.
