Description: Adapted. Fan palm. Long, arching, ribbon-like segments on each frond, creating a fine-textured, fountain-like canopy. May through July, small creamy-white flowers; followed by clusters of black fruits occasionally eaten by birds. Tolerates some afternoon shade, though growth is stronger in sun with irrigation. Cold-hardy only into the lower 20s; young trees are highly susceptible to freeze damage, while established specimens may resprout. Deer resistant. Best kept in containers and used as specimen palm or courtyard focal point, where delicate, weeping texture softens hardscapes, water features, or patio spaces and provides graceful, tropical effect.
