Botanical Name: Nolina nelsonii
Mature Size: 12ft H, 10ft W
Light Requirement: Sun to Partial Shade
Water Need: Low
Cold Hardiness: Zone 8 (10 to 15F) to 10 (35 to 40F)
Description: Adapted. Stiff, silver-blue leaves arranged in a symmetrical rosette. Over time, may form a thick, woody trunk that slowly elevates the rosette, adding vertical stature. In ideal conditions and with age, mature specimens can reach 10-12ft H (including trunk and bloom stalk) and 8-10 ft W. Flower stalk, produced every several years, can rise 6-10ft H above the rosette and bears showy clusters of creamy-white flowers that attract pollinators. Requires full sun, excellent drainage, and performs best in rocky or xeric soils. Evergreen in mild winters, highly drought-tolerant, and deer-resistant. A bold specimen for modern, desert, or sculptural landscapes.
