Description: A shrubby, deciduous, thorny Texas native. Rugged character, airy canopy, and exceptional drought tolerance. Thrives in poor, rocky, or sandy soils with minimal maintenance. Displays fragrant yellowish spring flowers that attract pollinators, followed by seed pods consumed by wildlife. Twisted, gnarled trunks and delicate, fine-textured foliage create filtered shade ideal for xeric or native landscapes. Deep taproot system can make transplanting difficult. Excellent for erosion control and wildlife habitat.
