Mature Size: 10-20ft H, 6-10ft W
Light Requirement: Sun to Partial Shade
Water Need: Medium

Description: Adapted cultivar. Vigorous, evergreen to semi-evergreen vine producing ornate purple-and-white flowers followed by round, deep purple fruit with aromatic, sweet-tart pulp. Twining growth habit climbs readily with support, forming dense foliage that attracts pollinators. Requires consistent moisture in well-drained soil; mulch to retain humidity and protect roots from heat. Sensitive to frost--best suited for protected microclimates or container culture in Austin, where it may die back to the roots in light freezes and regrow in spring. Excellent choice for trellises, fences, or patio planters where its exotic flowers and edible fruit can be enjoyed up close.
