Description: A slow growing deciduous shrubby tree native to the desert and used extensively in south Texas. Shiny green leaflets from zig zag type branches with lots of thorns. June to August pale yellow flowers are followed by long and thick curvy brown seed pods. Although this tree is not frost hardy it is extremely drought and heat tolerant. Examples reaching full height potential are found along the woody parts of the Rio Grande, otherwise unlikely to reach full size potential.
