$190.00 / EA

Botanical Name:  Fouquierie splendens

Mature Size: 10-15ft H, 6-8ft W, multi-stemmed clump

Light Requirement: Sun

Water Need: Very Low

Cold Hardiness: Zone 8 (10 to 15F) to 11 (above 40F)

Description: Adapted. Striking desert-native with tall, wand-like stems that leaf out after rain and produce fiery red tubular flowers at their tips in spring. Technically a woody, drought-deciduous shrub of the Chihuahuan and Sonoran deserts. Must have full sun and extremely sharp drainage. Best planted in gravelly soil or mounded beds, where water drains quickly. Leaves emerge after rainfall and drop during dry spells, adding seasonal movement and texture. Brilliant flowers attract hummingbirds and pollinators. May take time to establish and can appear dormant between rain cycles. Once established, needs little to no supplemental water. Not suitable for containers long-term. Excellent as a dramatic vertical accent or sculptural feature in dry garden designs. Ideal for xeric landscapes
