Description: Several varieties of a native to parts of the US and Mexico. This opuntia does not have the long straight spines of other prickly pear Opuntia but has tiny bluish gray bristles. This plant is often covered by magenta-colored flowers February through June, producing only dry, hard, inedible fruit. This also roots easily in dry sandy soil from a joint broken of the plant.
