Description: Adapted. Vigorous evergreen tropical vine. Late winter early spring display of brilliant orange tubular flowers blanket plant. Growth slows in winter and foliage may blacken after freezes. In mild winters, established plants often resprout from woody stems in spring and quickly recover; however, severe freezes may kill the vine outright, so best planted in a warm microclimate or given frost protection. Prune immediately after the main bloom cycle to encourage strong regrowth and maintain shape. Attractive to hummingbirds and pollinators, thrives in heat and sun, and benefits from deep, well-drained soils with some wind protection. Showy choice for seasonal color in protected spots. Especially striking on fences, trellises, or arbors where the cascading bloom can be showcased.
