Description: An interesting bamboo that carries its green leaves only at the top 1/3rd of the culms. The culms extremely straight and often dark purple to reddish in color. The culm sheaths also tend to stay on longer than most other bamboo. Use a balanced slow-release fertilizer several times per year for optimal growth and beauty. Tolerant of salt spray. Often used as a hedge.
