Description: Adapted. Sculptural, evergreen succulents known for fleshy, often toothed leaves and showy spikes of tubular flowers (often orange, pink, red, or yellow) bloom mostly in winter to spring. Many varieties attract hummingbirds and pollinators. Require excellent drainage and thrive in rocky or sandy soils. A few species are reliably hardy in the ground--others are best grown in containers or brought indoors during freezing weather.
