Description: Native to Coastal South Texas. Narrow, deep green leaves; single central stripe; lined with small teeth along margins. Dense colonies of compact rosettes through prolific offsetting. Monocarpic (dies after flowering), but spreads aggressively via underground rhizomes. Flower spike, at 8-12 years, may reach 8-10 feet tall. Yellow-green blooms attract pollinators. May need protection from late afternoon sun or reflective sites when young or in containers. Best with excellent drainage and is tolerant of both heat and moderate cold. Well-suited for erosion control, mass plantings, or naturalistic xeric gardens.
