Description: Adapted. Fast-growing. Long, narrow blue-green leaves edged in small teeth; tipped with a sharp spine. Forms large, open upright rosette. Best known as the primary species used in tequila production. Monocarpic (dies after flowering) and produces numerous offsets. Flower spike, at 8-12 years, can reach 20-25 feet tall. Yellow blooms attract pollinators. Performs best in full sun with excellent drainage; protect from prolonged freezes; wet winters. Ideal for large-scale xeric landscapes or as a statement plant in spacious gardens.
