Description: Adapted. Blue-gray leaves edged with small teeth; tipped with sharp black spines. Compact, dense rosette. Monocarpic (dies after blooming) but produces offsets freely, allowing the colony to persist. Flower spike, at 10-20 years, can reach 10-15 feet tall. Yellow to reddish blooms attract pollinators. Exceptionally cold hardy and thrives in well-drained soil with full sun. Excellent for rock gardens, desert plantings, and structured xeric designs.
