Description: Adapted. Smooth, bright green leaves; striking imprints from adjacent leaves, create a patterned texture. Leaf edges are lined with small teeth; tipped with a sharp terminal spine. Open rosette. Monocarpic (dies after flowering) and produces occasional offsets. Flower spike, at 10-15 years, can reach 12-14 feet tall. Yellow blooms attract pollinators. Tolerant of heat; drought but benefits from afternoon shade in hot or highly reflective sites. Protect from hard freezes; excessive winter moisture. Well-suited for containers or protected xeric plantings where unique leaf patterns add visual interest.
