Description: Native to West Texas. Cold Hardy. Broad, gray-blue leaves; small marginal teeth; stout terminal spines. Dense, symmetrical rosettes. Monocarpic (dies after blooming) but produces offsets freely, creating attractive clusters over time. Flower spike, at 10-20 years, can reach 12-18 feet tall. Yellow to orange-tinged blooms attract pollinators. Drought tolerance; needs sharp drainage. Ideal for naturalistic plantings, cold-hardy xeriscapes, and high-desert landscapes.
