Description: Adapted. Thick, dark blue-green leaves armed with large, hooked teeth; stout terminal spine. Broad, upright rosette with a rugged, architectural presence. Monocarpic (dies after flowering) and may produce a few offsets. Flower spike, at 10-20 years, can reach 20-25 feet tall. Greenish-yellow blooms attract pollinators. Extremely heat; drought tolerant when established but requires excellent drainage and winter protection in colder or wetter conditions. Ideal as a dramatic centerpiece in expansive xeric or arid landscapes.
