Description: Cultivar. Slender, upright blue-gray leaves edged in deep red; tipped with dark terminal spines. Compact vase-like rosette. Monocarpic (dies after flowering) but produces occasional offsets. Bloom spike, at 8-12 years, can reach 8-12 feet tall. Yellow to reddish blooms attract pollinators. Full sun and fast-draining soil, with some protection from reflected heat and prolonged cold. Containers or foreground plantings in xeric gardens where bold contrast and symmetry are desired.
